With the ever increasing costs of
keeping a horse or pony, TB Equestrian is offering the chance for any
individual to have the opportunity to ride, look after a pony or horse
in our "Share Scheme" or "Own a horse for a day". Our clients can
decide whether to have some training ( Individual or Group lessons
).Having had an initial assessment with Becky or Trilby, the clients
can choose to train on site or have a ride out of varying time scales
depending on their stamina and level of fitness. We have several equines on the yard that are included in this venture. Pictures and a short description of each one will, as time allows, be found on the Competition Horse link. This scheme is a unique opportunity to feel the difference of the attitudes in privately owned horses with a wide range of different skills. Whether clients are competing in all levels of Eventing i.e. Dressage, Show jumping or Cross-country, Pony and Riding Club activties or hacking for pleasure across moorland, through woods or around the Cornish lanes. These opportunities are available to meet all requirements. As the partnership between horse and rider develops, there would be opportunities to compete the horses at "in house" low key competitions. Perhaps progressing to competing at outside venues with varying levels of competition. <>There is a huge gap between riding school horses and horses that are owned privately. Often individuals find out the hard way by buying something that is not suitable for their requirements, e.g. riding ability but also life-style and work commitments. This so often means that the acquired horses suddenly have a complete temperament change purely because their routine has changed and perhaps they are not worked so consistantly or as often. The reverse can apply also as maybe they are worked more and get much fitter so therfore have a change in demeanour. If prospective horse owners have the opportunity to widen their knowledge of non-school horses they will be much better equipped to make informed decisions about buying/owning their own horse. When time is a restrictive factor in ones' life a sharing option may be a way of coming close to meeting the individuals' needs and aspirations. Within this time of "education" the individuals can then decide whether they are in a position to eventually purchase a horse for themselves. At the opposite end of the spectrum there may be individuals with horses that are struggling to do themselves justice, whether financially or time-wise. It may be worth considering having the horse assessed at TB Equestrian to see whether it could be kept on site and be "shared" with one or more individuals. It need not be a permenant solution but could be for shorter periods, e.g. covering time for long holidays or pregnancy or specific periods in ones' life when it's just too busy. It could mean the difference between keeping or selling your horse. Moving on from that, if selling becomes a necessity, the horse is in regular work and being seen by a wider spectrum of people so therefore would be easier to market. > |
